JBL Control 68HP-WH 8" High-Power Pendant Speaker
Finish: WHITE (JBL-C68HP-WH). JBL publishes photos of the black version only; the pictures show the same product in black. This listing is the white finish.
The Control 68HP-WH is a compact pendant speaker engineered for venues and permanent installations where consistent coverage and weather resistance matter. Its coaxial design delivers focused sound with minimal installation complexity, making it reliable for outdoor stages, covered performance spaces, and distributed sound reinforcement systems where setup speed counts.
Acoustic Performance
This speaker produces 114 dB continuous SPL and 120 dB peak SPL at 1 meter, powered by a 250-watt continuous pink noise capacity (1000W peak). The combination of an 8-inch Kevlar-reinforced woofer and 1-inch titanium compression driver delivers articulate midrange and extended bass down to 72 Hz, with 110° constant directivity coverage that ensures even sound distribution across the room or venue floor.
Build & Reliability
Constructed from high-impact polystyrene with a zinc-plated steel grille and powder-coat finish, the enclosure carries an IP44 weather rating for outdoor durability and road use. Setup is streamlined through dual 4.5-meter high-tensile galvanized steel wire rope systems (main and safety suspension), eliminating the need for additional hardware sourcing and keeping load-in time minimal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does IP44 weather rating mean for this speaker?
IP44 means the enclosure is protected against water spray from any direction and dust ingress, making it safe for outdoor use under covered patios, eaves, and partially exposed venues. It is not fully submersible and should not be mounted in direct rain paths.
Can I use this speaker in a distributed 70V system, or is it only 8-ohm?
The Control 68HP-WH includes a 68-watt multi-tap transformer that switches between 70V, 100V distributed lines and 8-ohm direct operation, so you can integrate it into either a commercial distributed system or a traditional amplified setup.
What's included in the box for rigging and installation?
Two complete suspension cable systems—main and safety—are included with dual 4.5-meter high-tensile galvanized steel wire ropes and UL-listed fasteners, so you do not need to source separate rigging hardware.
How does the coaxial driver design affect coverage?
The 8-inch Kevlar woofer and 1-inch titanium compression driver are mounted coaxially, producing a tight 110° constant directivity coverage pattern that ensures even sound distribution and minimizes dead zones across a listening area.
What is the power handling and output in dB?
The speaker handles 250 watts continuous pink noise and 1000 watts peak, producing 114 dB continuous SPL and 120 dB peak SPL at 1 meter, suitable for mid-to-large outdoor venues and commercial spaces.
