Description
Seymour Duncan Green Magic Humbucker Zebra Pickup Set
The Green Magic delivers a balanced, articulate voice that bridges classic warmth with modern clarity. This zebra-coil matched pair excels in mid-gain and high-gain contexts, offering responsive dynamics without sacrificing note definition across the frequency spectrum.
Tone & Output Character
The neck pickup's 7.73k output provides a smooth, singing quality ideal for leads and sustained tones, while the bridge's 8.75k output maintains aggression and presence without excessive muddiness. This modest output spread preserves clarity in both positions and responds well to tube amp saturation and overdrive pedals.
Wiring & Construction
4-conductor shielded cable wiring enables series, parallel, and split-coil configurations for tonal flexibility. Hand-built in California using Alnico II magnets, these pickups exhibit the vintage-leaning magnet characteristics that favor sustain and harmonic complexity.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the zebra coil design different from standard humbuckers?
Zebra refers to the mixed black and nickel-silver coils in the matched pair. This design, combined with Alnico II magnets, creates a tonal character that leans vintage in sustain and harmonic complexity while maintaining modern clarity and articulation.
Can I use these pickups in drop tunings and heavy styles?
Yes. The bridge pickup's 8.75k output delivers aggression and presence suited to hard rock and modern metal, and the responsive dynamics ensure note definition even in heavy, sustained contexts without excessive muddiness.
What tonal configurations does the 4-conductor wiring enable?
The 4-conductor shielded cable supports series, parallel, and split-coil setups, allowing you to reshape the character of each pickup position from articulate and clear to more aggressive or blended, depending on your wiring choice.
How do the neck and bridge outputs differ?
The neck pickup is rated at 7.73k for smooth, singing leads and sustained tones, while the bridge sits at 8.75k for maintained aggression and presence. This modest spread preserves clarity in both positions across the frequency spectrum.
Are these pickups suitable for jazz or folk?
The Green Magic is voiced for hard rock, blues, and metal; its aggressive presence and modern clarity make it less suited to jazz and folk genres where warmer, less defined tones are typically preferred.
