Description
Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient Raw Nickel Pickup Set
This complementary pairing delivers the articulate aggression you need in the bridge and nuanced sensitivity in the neck—a workhorse combo for modern high-gain players who demand tonal versatility without compromise. The matched Nazgul and Sentient configuration balances raw output with responsive dynamics, holding together saturated lead work and controlled rhythm passages on the same stage or in the same mix. Raw nickel covers age gracefully and keep that classic vintage hardware look intact through years of gigging.
Tone & Output Character
The Nazgul bridge pickup uses a ceramic magnet for aggressive articulation and focused midrange punch that cuts through a live mix, while the Sentient neck pickup employs an Alnico 5 bar magnet for warmth and harmonic complexity that sits naturally under your fingers. Bridge DCR of 13.6k and neck DCR of 7.75k create a controlled output spread that prevents muddiness without sacrificing sustain and clarity across the frequency spectrum—essential for staying defined in high-gain territory.
Live Reliability & Construction
Vacuum wax potted construction eliminates feedback and microphonic noise, giving you rock-solid performance through demanding gigs and studio sessions. Nickel silver bottom plates contribute to the pickup's structural integrity and tonal clarity, while hand-crafted assembly in the Santa Barbara factory ensures consistent quality and attention to detail you can depend on night after night.

Frequently Asked Questions
What guitars are these pickups compatible with?
These are 6-string humbuckers in a standard dual-coil format with 4-conductor lead wire, making them compatible with any guitar designed for passive humbucker pickups. The 4-conductor wiring offers flexible configuration options for series, parallel, and split modes depending on your wiring setup.
Are these pickups good for metal and high-gain tone?
Yes—the Nazgul bridge pickup uses a ceramic magnet for aggressive articulation and focused midrange punch, while the high output levels (13.6k DCR bridge, 7.75k DCR neck) and vacuum wax potting eliminate feedback and maintain clarity under heavy distortion. This set is specifically voiced for metal, hard rock, progressive, and drop-tuning applications.
How do the Nazgul and Sentient pickups differ from each other?
The Nazgul bridge pickup uses a ceramic magnet for raw output and aggressive bite, while the Sentient neck pickup employs an Alnico 5 bar magnet for warmth and harmonic complexity. This pairing balances saturated lead work in the bridge with responsive, controlled rhythm passages in the neck position.
What makes these pickups feedback-free and reliable on stage?
Vacuum wax potting eliminates microphonic noise and feedback by sealing the coils and magnet structure, ensuring consistent performance in demanding live and studio environments. Nickel silver bottom plates add structural integrity and tonal clarity while the hand-built construction in the Santa Barbara factory maintains consistent quality control.
What skill level do I need to install these pickups?
Installation requires intermediate to advanced soldering and wiring knowledge, as you'll need to deactivate your old pickups and solder the 4-conductor leads into your guitar's wiring harness. If you're not comfortable soldering, a qualified guitar tech can install them quickly.
