Description

Seymour Duncan Psyclone Hot, Neck, Gold Cover Pickup

The Seymour Duncan Psyclone Hot neck pickup delivers a controlled, articulate response with lower output tailored for neck position work. Its Alnico 5 magnet structure and 8.78k DCR provide clarity without excessive gain, making it responsive to pick dynamics and finger technique while maintaining definition in complex chord voicings. The gold cover adds vintage aesthetics while protecting the coils from electromagnetic interference.

Tone & Electronics

This neck-position voicing balances warmth with definition, avoiding the muddiness that higher-output neck pickups can introduce. The lower output wind pairs well with bridge pickups of moderate to high output, creating useful tonal separation across the selector positions and preserving note-to-note articulation in lead playing—crucial for cutting through live mixes and maintaining clarity during fast passages onstage.

Design & Construction

Handmade in Santa Barbara, California, the Psyclone Hot combines traditional Seymour Duncan craftsmanship with the brand's proven winding formula. The gold cover reduces external hum while complementing classic instrument finishes, and dual mounting options ensure straightforward installation on most solidbody guitars—important for reliable, trouble-free swaps in the field.
